CLIMB MOUNT URUS

Mount Urus is a spectacular peak located in the Cordillera Blanca range of the Peruvian Andes. With an elevation of 5,495 meters (18,022 feet), it is a popular destination for mountaineers due to its accessibility and relatively straightforward climb.

The standard route to the summit of Mount Urus begins at the Ishinca Valley, where climbers will follow a well-defined path to the base camp. From the base camp, the climb follows a steep snow and ice slope, with some sections requiring the use of ropes and other technical equipment.

As climbers ascend higher, the route becomes steeper and more challenging, with some sections reaching up to 50 degrees in steepness. The final section to the summit involves a rocky scramble, but it’s not too difficult.

The ascent typically takes 2-3 days, depending on the climber’s fitness level and acclimatization. The route offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers, including the nearby Tocllaraju and Ishinca.

While Mount Urus is considered a technically straightforward climb, it’s important to note that climbing at high altitudes can be dangerous and requires careful preparation and planning. It’s recommended to climb with an experienced guide and to acclimatize properly before attempting the climb.
